Amazon India Reconciliation: The 2026 Guide Every Seller Missed

Amazon India Reconciliation: The 2026 Guide Every Seller Missed

If you're selling on Amazon India and running your books off the Payment Dashboard, you are losing money — quietly. In the last 12 months I audited 41 sellers running ₹3 L – ₹1.2 Cr/month. The average shortfall between what Amazon showed and what they actually deposited was 2.3%.

At ₹50 L/month, that's ₹11,500 evaporating every 15 days.

Here's the exact playbook we now automate inside SellerPapa.

The 4 fee lines Amazon reports separately

Amazon fees are not one number. They're stacked, and 3 of them are computed after the order shows as "delivered":

  1. Referral fee — category commission, 2%-16%
  2. Closing fee — flat per-item, ₹5-₹25
  3. Weight-based shipping fee — recomputed from dispatch weight, often 40% higher than the shipping label estimate
  4. Storage fee (FBA only) — daily, compounded on volumetric weight

If your P&L spreadsheet only tracks item #1, you're already off by 30-45%.

The 3 recovery buckets nobody tracks

1. Weight-remeasure disputes

Amazon reweighs every parcel on receipt at the fulfilment centre. If their measurement is heavier than your label, you pay the higher rate — but there's a 15-day window to raise a Reimbursement Request with your original weight receipt. Most sellers miss this.

2. Lost & damaged shipments

Amazon eventually credits you — but only if you file within 60 days. After 60 days, it's written off. Their default reimbursement rate is 65% of retail; you can request 100% with the original invoice.

3. Return-to-Origin (RTO) fee refunds

Every RTO in India costs you between ₹40-₹90 depending on weight and pincode. Amazon charges you the outbound shipping fee, but per their SLA, you're entitled to a full refund if the RTO happened due to their courier's failed attempt. Filing rate: <5% of eligible cases.

The 30-minute weekly workflow

Every Monday morning:

  1. Pull last week's Payment Settlement Report (14-day cycle).
  2. Cross-check each order against your original invoice — SellerPapa auto-diffs this in TrueProfit.
  3. For every mismatch:
    • Under ₹50 → skip (not worth the filing time)
    • ₹50-₹500 → batch-file via Case Log with pre-filled template
    • ₹500 → escalate to Account Manager

You're looking for three patterns: wrong fee bracket, wrong weight slab, wrong claim status.

What the average Indian Amazon seller recovers

Sellers using structured reconciliation (SellerPapa or otherwise) typically recover:

CategoryRecovery rate
Fee mismatches62% of disputed cases
Lost / damaged claims78%
RTO fee refunds41%
Weight remeasure55%

Applied to a ₹50 L/month seller: that's roughly ₹9,800/month back in your account. Every month. Compounding.

The one thing to do this week

Open your Amazon Seller Central → Reports → Payment Reports → download the last 6 settlement CSVs. Total up "Other" charges. If that number is more than 4% of your gross, you're leaking money — and you have a 60-day window to claim most of it back.

If you want SellerPapa to run this reconciliation on autopilot every 14 days and file the claims for you, start your 30-day free trial.
